| Description | He has received a letter from Mr. Wright at the Cambridge University Press on the Kelvin hydrodynamics volume. Lady Kelvin was unwell ten days ago and he could not speak to her on the subject. She was gratified to learn that Larmor would edit the volume and see it through the press, with younger mathematicians helping to correct the proofs. Wright asks what arrangements would be acceptable but does not think that the volume would pay its own expenses, if that. Lady Kelvin does not feel that she could incur any losses at present. He would like to explain to Larmor privately that they do not know how her affairs stand. He may have heard that Lord Kelvin's estate was something like a million, a rumour which vexed Bottomley, giving rise to public and private expectations, but there was no truth to it. Lady Kelvin's health is improving and he encloses a copy of the letter to Wright. |
