DescriptionHandwritten fair-copy of a report on Pole's 1856 paper 'On Colour Blindness' submitted to the Council of the Royal Society. Report later published in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society', volume 10, 1860.

Herschel characterises Pole's paper as: 'exceedingly valuable...because it is the only clear and consecutive account of that affliction which has yet been given by a party affected....in a position to discuss his own case scientifically...such a person is really more favourably situated for describing the phenomenon of colour-blindness than any normal eyed person can possibly be'.
