Description | [Part of] Plate 6 of Joseph Fayrer's "Thanatophidia of India..." Dual study of cobra heads showing variant hood markings, no background. Title information above each specimen with regional variant names: "Khoyah Gokurrah from Dehli" and "Dudian Kurrees Gokurrah from Calcutta." Pencil annotation "Plate 8" between the two watercolours with a pencil sketch to indicate the position of a third watercolour [MS/628/9] on the final plate, with an instruction "Plate 9 might come in here". Both snakes are noted as being drawn "From Life." Each is inscribed below "Drawn by Annnoda Prosad Bagchee, Student, Govt. Sch: of Art, Calcutta." [Annada Prasad Bagchi (1849-1905)]. |
