TitleLetter from [Robert Richardson] Banks and [Charles] Barry, 1 Westminster Chambers, to the Council of the Royal Society
Date9 October 1866
DescriptionInforms that they have received communication from the First Commissioner of Works regarding their appointment as architects at Burlington House. Ask the Council to send them the number of rooms they would desire and their approximate dimensions. Believe that if the Royal Society can reduce their present request as to the area they propose to occupy the probability of receiving government approval is greater. Ask whether with a view of economizing space generally, would there be any objection to a meeting room being provided which could be used by agreement at different days and hours for meetings of the other societies accommodated at Burlington House alongside the Royal Society.
