TitleLetter from Mohammed Ben Ali Abgali to Martin Folkes
Date1726
DescriptionFolkes had written to him to renew their friendship with eloquence, which gave Abgali great joy. He praises Folkes for his honesty and politeness and is glad that Folkes has not forgotten him. He notes the Dukes of Richmond and Montague and Folkes's obligations to them. He showed Folkes's letter to Montague, who read it thoroughly and said he did not know a wiser man than Folkes. He pledges to maintain friendship and correspondence. He would like Salomon Negri to interpret Abgali's feelings and Folkes's writings, since there is no distance of their hearts.
