Description | ' In your issue for May 22nd you published a quotation from an article by Herrn Wilhelm Kube, one of the pioneers of the Nazi party, whoch appeared in 'Fridericus' a periodical published in Britain.
In that article a Jew is defined as "one who has more than ten percent of Jewish blood in him".
As a Society whose whole concern is the scientific aspect of heredity, we feel that it would be outside our province to express any opinion on the purely social or political aspect of the Jewish question in Germany. But we think that we ought not to remain silent on the purely scientific aspect.
The passage quoted above clearly implies that the inheritance of characters by an individual can be expressed in terms of "blood percentages" derived from his ancestors. We desire to point out that the modern science of Genetics lends no support whatsoever to this view.' |
