Description | Mentions she has sent a book to Olive, Douglas William Freshfield's 'Round Kangchenjunga', which she knew had Olive's approval. The first choice had been an account on the Abruzzi expedition in book form, but she ascertained that it would not appear soon. Apologises for the delay in sending the book, and explains the binder had not been careful with the plates and the frontispiece, which was one of the best pictures, had been horribly smeared and so it had to be replaced. Mentions her mother had chosen a dozen small tea spoons for afternoon tea, with sugar tongs, as a gift for Olive, and that these will be arriving soon along with a letter. Jokingly adds that Olive may warn off anyone else who may threaten to send small tea spoons. Begs Olive not to write back more than a card to say the book has arrived, as she knows Olive must be frightfully busy. Apologises for not being able to attend Olive's wedding but that her brother and his wife will give an account of it. Offers her best wishes to Olive and her fiance and hopes the wedding day will not be too cold for comfort. |
