Description | Thinks that Olive and Reggie [her husband, Reginald Hawthorn Hooker] will like to see the enclosures and that it is evident Dick [likely her son, Richard Hooker] needs a rest and home air. Asks Olive to give Reggie her love and thanks for his letter. Is sorry to hear that there are two diaries missing. States that Mr Hurley had been very casual sometimes and that two years before had given her a fright about lost letters and then months afterwards had found them in a 'safe'. The same Mr Hurley had recently told her he had not received a packet which worried her and led her to write to the postmaster, only for Mr Hursley to find it in a cupboard. Hopes that there is hope the diaries will re-appear. Is sure she has not passed them over as she had been through all the papers in her posession. Tells her Mr Hurley is at Afghanistan and hoping for a leave to Murree. Hopes Olive had good news of Arthur [likely Arthur Nevil Rucker] and Oliver. Tells her that Eileen Younghusband, daughter of General Younghusband, is coming for a visit. Is glad the days have been summer-like. Signed Madre. |
