Description | Written at The Royal Society, Burlington House, London W1 to Mrs H. O. Schild, 36, Bryn Llwyd, Caernarvon Road, Bangor.
'Dear Mrs Schild Your letter was answered before I could reply to it, by a notice I received this morning from the Home Office saying that instructions have been given for your husband's release. I am very glad about it. The delay is almost a record.
It is clear from the fact that the Home Office wrote me to tell of your husband's impending release that they had not lost the application made by the Royal Society. There may have been some misunderstanding about it not reaching the Italian tribunal. No delay I think was produced by that: the delay was wholly due to that involved in the appointment of the Italian tribunal and in the slowness of its work. Several other Italians have recently been released at last. The Tribunal seems to be geting to work.
Professor Winton will be glad to have your husband's help next term in his classes.
Yours sincerely, AV Hill Secretary R.S.' |
