DescriptionPanaoramic view of Tarawera Range, captioned on the overlay. Central caption reads "Commencement of the Great Fissure in the South End of Tarawera Range." Other features indicated on the overlay are Te-Hape-o-toroa, Mount Hazard and Okaro Lake, near which is the south end of the great fissure. A horizontal scale of 4 miles is noted in faint pencil beneath the image, with a corresponding vertical scale of 11,500 feet in pencil to the right of the photograph. The print is embossed "Charles Spencer, photographer".
