DescriptionCommencing: 'In the Journal of the American Medical Association, April 29 1911, Victor G.Heiser...gives his experiences with beri-beri and the use of unpolished rice in the Philippines...' and concluding that 'Dr Heiser believes that this successful experience with unpolished rice, supporting as it does in every detail the original idea of Braddon and the work of Fraser, Stanton, Aron, Kilbourne de Haan and Highet, should be used by the medical profession of the East generally as a lever to get the various Governments to prohibit, as far as possible, the use of polished rice.'
