Lunar soil samples or 'fines' from the USSR unmanned moon mission Luna 24, which were given to the UK for research purposes. Their curation was overseen by Colin Pillinger on behalf of the Royal Society.
Transfer, distribution and analysis of Apollo 15 samples.
Apollo 16 sample 600016 known as the 'consortium rock'.
Weights of various meteroites (Assan, Pantar, Weston, Goalpara, Orgueil, Murchison, Kapoeta and Allende).

Luna 24 samples information is mostly in the form of tabular data with few descriptive notes.

Notes on Apollo 15 samples include details of distribution with brief description and weights for each sample and the name of individual or instution they were sent to, sometimes includes small hand drawn, annotated figures illustrating the appearance of the samples.

Allocation plan for Consortium rock 60016 includes descriptions, weights and some hand drawn, annotated figures illustrating the appearance of the samples.

This notebook dates to Pilllinger's employment at the University of Bristol, School of Chemistry as a post doctoral research fellow (1968-1976) and to his time at the University of Cambridge, Department of Earth Sciences (1976-1984). The notes are written in the hand of Ann Gowar who was Pillinger's technician. Carbon copy notebook, meaning there are two copies of each page contained in the book. Also contains loose sheets inserted into volume.
