DescriptionRecords the date and time of removal and return of individual lunar samples from the safe where they were stored, the weight of the amount of sample used and the initials of the individual who checked the return. Samples are from Apollo and Luna missions. Later in the volume sample preparation is recorded along with transfers and sample runs. Occasional inserts include pages of data, a letter from Alan [Stephenson] at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne requesting details of a magnet used in experiments, and a diagram of a magnet with its dimensions. Carbon copy notebook, with some copy sheets at the end as inserts.

Although a label on the inside front cover says 'University of Bristol School of Chemistry,' the notebook covers Pilllinger's employment both at the University of Bristol, School of Chemistry as a post doctoral research fellow (1968-1976) and his time at the University of Cambridge, Department of Earth Sciences (1976-1984).
