DescriptionWhitehouse's letter of 1 November [1887] was laid before the President and Council of the Royal Society at their last meeting. Foster is directed to say the Society is not to be regarded as a judicial committee on education of the Privy Council and it is not the habit of the Society to undertake such judicial functions as those proposed in Whitehouse's letter.
