TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to Henry James Chaney, Standards Department, Board of Trade
Date23 March 1886
DescriptionIn reply to Chaney's letter of 15 March [1886], all apparatus purchased or obtained by means of the Government Grant belongs to the Government and has to be returned at the conclusion of the investigation to the Science and Art Department. It will probably be most convenient to return the expansion apparatus of Mr G F Rodwell direct to the Science and Art Department, in which case Foster asks for a written receipt to be forwarded to the Royal Society for the Government Grant Committee. Discusses what should happen if Mr Rodwell's health permits him to commence an investigation. The question of further description of the instrument must be left to Mr Rodwell or the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company.
