Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society |
Date | 4 February 1895 |
Description | The matter of Bryan Donkin's bust does not appear to have been dealt with last Council. It was necessary to send some kind of answer at once so Rix has written to say that the Council will meet on the 21st and then an official answer can be sent.
Encloses a letter from A L Haddon [not attached] covering correspondence between Haddon and Galton and Rix awaits Foster's instructions in the matter. The cards were returned to Haddon some time ago.
Mr Crookes was at the Society on Friday and seemed to assume his paper would be published in the the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. The Treasurer [John Evans] also seemed to think that possibly Lord Rayleigh's [John William Strutt's] full paper may be printed in the 'Phil. Trans.', followed by those contributed to the discussion. This being so Rix thinks it prudent not to put Hartley into type at present and Rix shall let it stand over.
Rix will send out a note about the Gunning Fund as Foster desires. This is not a bequest, Gunning is still living. |
