Title | Copy letter from Alex E Outerbridge Junior, to Michael Foster |
Date | 25 April 1895 |
Description | It appears from sundry publications that at a conversazione of the Royal Society on 13th June 1894 a number of specimens of gold leaves of extreme thinness prepared by electro-deposition on copper foil with subsequent removal of the copper by perchloride of iron, were exhibited as novelties in metallurgical methods.
Outerbridge Junior lists publications from 1877 onwards from the 'Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society' and the 'Journal of the Franklin Institute' that establish his claim to priority both in method and result, with thinner gold leaves and films of other metals produced. |
