Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to the Secretary, General Post Office |
Date | 7 June 1895 |
Description | The Society has had several times occasion to complain of foreign book packets arriving denuded of their stamps. Incloses a packet which arrived this morning. Has carefully examined the only person through whose hands it passed before it reached him and is fully persuaded the stamp was not removed in the house. In this case it is a great inconvenience that the stamp should have been stolen as Rix wishes to forward the packet to Lord Kelvin's [William Thomson's] address and he is not able to do so without extra payment. When the Secretary has inspected the packet Rix asks that it be forwarded to Lord Kelvin. |
