Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Richard Tetley Glazebrook, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 26 July 1895 |
Description | The Society has on approbation for a short time a manuscript translation of Newton's 'Principia'. The first portion is perhaps in Newton's handwriting, the rest in various hands. It is apparently not the manuscript from which Motte's translation was printed and appears to be of earlier date than that. It was in the possession of the late Mr Ranyard and sold with his effects.
Asks if Glazebrook knows anything of it and whether he recommends purchase. If Glazebrook is likely to be in town he could call and see it. |
