Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society |
Date | 8 October 1895 |
Description | Rix believes Foster returns home tomorrow. At the earliest moment Rix asks him to wire him if the inclosed [not attached] printed address meets with approval.
Also wishes to know if the inclosed invitation card meets Foster's approval. They will take some time to print and unless Foster knows at once the Fellows will simply have no notice at all of this meeting. The other Officers agree that it is not advisable to print 'Smoking' on the card but that 'Smoking permitted' may be written inside the flap of the envelope. If Foster is not coming to town on Thursday he had better telegraph regarding this matter.
Asks what hour the Council should be. The Treasurer [John Evans] has instructed Rix to summon it for 2.30pm. The summonses must go out on Thursday at latest and unless Foster wires to the contrary, Rix will summon for that hour. |
