I am instructed by Dr Michael Foster to send you (inclosed herewith) a proof portrait of the late Professor Huxley which it is intended to insert in our "Proceedings [of the Royal Society]" together with the obituary notice shortly to appear. I am to ask whether you have any criticisms or remarks to make upon the portrait before we proceed to print off the copies for publication.
