I have to acknowledge receipt of your communication of the 22nd inst. [instant] The regulations of the Royal Society require that every communication to be laid before them shall be sent through the medium of a Fellow, who endorses it as suitable to be read to the Society. As the letter is of considerable length and may be of use to you elsewhere, I beg leave to return it herewith.
