|9 November 1897
|The Secretary's letter of the 27th on the subject of the International Geodetic Association was laid before the Council at its last meeting. The President and Council learn with great satisfaction that Her Majesty's Government are prepared to ask Parliament to provide the funds necessary to enable England to join the International Geodetic Association and Rucker is directed to suggest the name of the Astronomer Royal, W H M Christie, as England's representative on the Permanent Bureau. The Council will be glad to give further assistance that the Lords may desire by suggesting the names of delegates to the Conference.
