Title | Copy letter from [Robert William Frederick Harrison], to Dr Michael Foster |
Date | 6 April 1898 |
Description | Encloses a letter from Sir J [Taylor] [not enclosed].
The Eclipse quarrel leads to many embarassments. Harrison will not let the accounts which were read last Thursday go beyond the proof stage at present and will wait for consideration by Foster and Professor [Arthur William] Rucker. The Soiree's Sub-Committee (mainly through the Chairman, Professor Roberts-Austen) yesterday decided that Sir [Joseph Norman] Lockyer should be asked to give a demonstration of the Eclipse photographs at the May Soiree although Harrison tried to point out that it may cause difficulties.
There are two letters for Professor Rucker, from Professor Turner and Captain Hills, both protesting against the publication of the partial reports given last week. |
