Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to the Secretary to the Admiralty, Whitehall, S.W. |
Date | 25 July 1898 |
Description | With reference to the Preliminary Reports upon the observations of the recent Solar Eclipse in India, which are shorty to be published in the 'Proceeding of the Royal Society', Sir J N Lockyer has suggested that a number of copies of the 'Preliminary Account of the Observations made by the Eclipse Expedition and by the Officers and men of H.M.S. 'Melpomene' at Viziadrug in January, 1898', might be advantageously distributed among the observers on board that vessel, who rendered such valuable assistance to the expedition.
Instructions have therefore been given to the Society's printers to forward 150 copies of the report, when ready, to the Admiralty for distribution in the manner proposed, should the Lords of Admiralty approve such a course. |
