TitleCopy letter from Arthur William Rucker and Michael Foster, to the Secretary of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, St Petersburg
Date18 November 1898
DescriptionSince writing the accompanying letter [see related material] and since dispatching a letter from the President of the Royal Society [Joseph Lister] to the President of the Imperial Academy of Sciences of St Petersburg relative to the suggestion for holding regular and formal meetings of the delegates of the principal Academies of Europe, a letter has been received requesting the Royal Society to send delegates to the celebration of the Imperial Military Academy of Medicine of St Petersburg on 18th December.

Asks if it would also be possible for the gentlemen so nominated as delegates to converse with the Imperial Academy of Sciences on the questions to which the accompanying letter, and that of the President refer. If the Imperial Academy of Sciences is willing to discuss these matters with the representatives it is probable that the two Secretaries of the Royal Society would go to St Petersburg.
