DescriptionWith reference to the Under Secretary's letter. R&S 513, of 15th March, Rucker is directed by the Observatories Committee of the Royal Society to express their regret that, owing to a misapprehension, an answer to the last paragraph of the Under Secretary's letter was not sent earlier. They concur in the programme of immediate action which the Government of India propose to undertake in accordance with the advice of the Committee. The Committee take note of the fact that it is intended to make preparations for carrying on, some two or three years hence, the astronomical work recommended by the Committee.
