TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Reverend Robert Harley, Fellow of the Royal Society, 4 Wellington Square, Oxford
Date25 January 1888
DescriptionHesitates in letting the volume of John Flamsteed leave the Library due to its rarity and poor condition, but will allow it if he can send it out on Harley's order, as a Fellow of the Royal Society, to Mr Cudworth, on the understanding that Harley is liable for its safe return. Rix also brings attention to the two oil paintings the Royal Society have of Flamsteed by Thomas Gibson, and states that with the perrmission of the Society's Council Cudworth could perhaps get a better photograph from one of these, one of which Rix believes to be the original from which the engraving was taken.

Also notes that they have William Whewell's 'Newton and Flamsteed', a small tract bound in a larger volume, and 'The history of fluxions...' by Joseph Raphson, with some brief biographical information about Raphson.
