Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Robert Bellamy Clifton, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 5 November 1901 |
Description | Thanks Clifton for his note of the previous day. Suggests the proper course of action to take regarding Professor Forbes' paper. The vote of the Committee against the acceptance of the paper was not brought before the Council last week because, on discussing the Standing Order with Professor Rucker, it seemed clear the papers do not come before the Council until after the acceptance stage is passed. Is therefore sending the paper back to Forbes.
Regarding the next meeting of the Committee, unless the reports on Duddell and Mrs Ayrton's paper come in, there is really nothing to justify a meeting being called. However, if Clifton would like to call a meeting, Harrison asks what time he would like it summoned.
Thinks Sir William Robets-Austen has gone to Madeira and it will delay Mr Andrews' paper considerably to wait for his return. Asks if Clifton is he approves sending the paper to another referee, suggests Professor [James Alfred] Ewing or Professor [William Cawthorne] Unwin. |
