TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Dr H Forster Morley
Date25 January 1902
DescriptionHas delayed replying to Morley's letter of the 21 January until he could consult Sir M Foster and Mr Kempe upon the view Morley takes on the position of the Royal Society with regard to the United Kingdom's Contribution to the Catalogue. Kempe and Foster entirely agree with Harrison that Morley's proposition that the Society has subscribed for 45 sets of the Catalogue. What the Society did was to guarantee on behalf of the United Kingdom a subscription for 45 sets. Has at the Society a number of promises of subscriptions amounting to nearly 30 sets which they have been keeping with the intention of sending the subscribers names on to Morley. Returns the subscription from Newcastle as it is considered undesirable that the Royal Society [not enclosed], by sending its own receipt, should assume the functions of the British Regional Bureau.
