Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to the Secretary of State, Foreign Office, S.W. |
Date | 3 October 1902 |
Description | Regarding Sir Clement Hill's letter of 25 August on the Sleeping Sickness Commission in Uganda, a telegram has been received which has been interpreted as indicating that Dr Low, the senior member of the Commission may contemplate returning by the Nile route and in that event Christy thinks it would be desirable Low follow down the line of the Congo, up which the disease is believed to have spread. Members of the Royal Society Committee think it may be important that this line of investigation be pursued and Harrison is directed to ask the good offices of the Secretary in approaching the Government of the Congo Free State to obtain facilities for the passage of one of the observers down the Congo on his return journey. |
