| Description | Larmor discusses the various names they have received as possible candidates for the Indian Meteorological posts, including J Patterson, Field and Robb. He notes that the best one, Simpson, will not go. It is proposed that the Indian Observatory Committee will meet on 27 April to discuss the names, or that they wait until the summer in the hope that better candidates will be available after the University year is over, though it is doubtful.
He suggests that private enquiry is the best means by which to identify the best candidate, so Eliott need not attend for a meeting. If he wishes to attend on the 27 April for a meeting he should telegraph to that effect, but Larmor thinks it unncessary. Larmor is also writing to a good mathematician at University College, Bristol, to encourage him to apply, noting that he is very industrious. |
