TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr George Harley, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date6 May 1889
DescriptionIn Rix's personal capacity he would supply what Harley asks for, but it is not in his power to go against the strictly observed practice of the Royal Society in the matter of the loan of authors' papers. He quotes from chapter 14, paragraphs four and five, of the Society's Statutes which state that papers read at the Society shall be preserved there and not lent out without order of Council, and that the original copy be considered the property of the Society, with copies allowed with the Council's permission.
