Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Edwin Ray Lankester, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 4 June 1889 |
Description | Lankester's suggestion of Professor Ferriers for a Royal Medal has been noted, with the name added to the list sent out with the summons to the next Royal Society Council meeting, at which meeting it will be necessary to propose, second, and state the qualifications of the nominee.
Lankester has also suggested Dr Élie Metchnikoff for Foreign Membership, and this has been enetered in the book so as to ensure it is not forgotten. It is not a valid entry though until Lankester has added a statement of the grounds for the suggested name, which is signed in his own hand. This may be done before or at the meeting, providing it is in advance of the selection of names.
Applications for re-suspension of certificates for Fellowship cannot be received until after the election. Rix will try to remind him, but should not be depended on for this. |
