The Treasurer wishes me to mention to you that it seems desirable to send invitations to 3 or 4 of the leading American Engineers who are now in England. He consulted with Dr Foster about it yesterday & we are sending (unless you disapprove) to Messrs D J Whithemore, H R Towne, A E Hunt, & Elibur [?] Thompson.
