|27 September 1889
|Rix encloses the form of subscription to the Pasteur Institute [not included], further noting that no time was named for returning the paper. He has sent two batches of cheques to Mansion House, but there are several promises which have not yet been paid. Rix also encloses Professor Archibald Campell Tait's application on behalf of the Scottish Meteorological Society [not included], which relates to the letter he forwarded on 27 July. He notes that Tait has not filled in the usual form as instructed.
He thanks Stokes for his enquiry about Rix's holiday in Norfolk, describing it as 'pleasant and bracing'.
