TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Mr H J Read, Colonial Office
Date21 July 1905
DescriptionHarrison having left for his holiday, Read's letter to him about Professor Minchin's claim has been put into Geikie' hands. Has no recollection of anything being said to Minchin about a subsistence allowance to be given by the Uganda authorities and there is no trace of it in the memorandum of conditions which Geikie drafted and Minchin signed, and of which a copy is enclosed [not enclosed]. Thinks Minchin probably got the idea from his conversations with Colonel [David] Bruce, who told him that he had received a subsistence allowance from the Uganda people.
