DescriptionIn reply to Cowan's enquiry, White does not remember a paper by Professor Tait on golf balls in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' but the following may have been what Cowan had in mind; 'On the Path of a Rotating Spherical Projectile' in the Edinburgh Royal Society Transactions, volume 37, 1895, volume 39, 1900.
