The first referee, Mr H F Newall, recommended the paper not be published in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' but that the author be asked to prepare an abridged account for publication in the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]'. The second referee, Mr Dyson, recommended publication in the 'Transactions' with diagrams one, four, five, seven, eleven and plates two, three, five, six and seven, subject to the omission of pages 15-16 local conditions, 17-18 time arrangements, 26-29 diary, 30-31 list of observers, and 47 landscape colours.
