Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir William Huggins, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 29 November 1906 |
Description | Sir Fridtjof Nansen has agreed to propose the Royal Society a toast, and any delicacy in the situation is reduced by the news that the Swedish minister is too ill to come. Will adhere to his injunction as to the entry of Nansen's name on the list. All the proposed speakers have consented to speak, with the exception of a string of guests. Fears there has been a misunderstanding with the Secretaries about writing necessary letters. Mr Justice Parker will likely now be asked, and Lord Kelvin has agreed to a toast. Sending advance proof of President's address [no enclosure]. The Treasurer [Alfred Bray Kempe] will read it. |
