DescriptionRayleigh conveys the congratulations of the Council of the Royal Society, expressed at their first meeting since the occasion of Lister's 80th birthday. They remember with pride that Lister has sat at the Council table as Foreign Secretary and President of the Royal Society, and they have consequently benefited from his reputation in the scientific community, and express their hope that he may continue to be successful in his work.
