Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie to Lord Morley |
Date | 27 November 1908 |
Description | 'Dear Lord Morley, The officers of the Royal Society have received with much regret your letter in which you intimate your with to resign your fellowship. The Society attaches a great importance to the inclusion among its member of men of distinction in literature, in public life and in departments that lie quite out of "natural history" which is our more special domain. We should all consider it a serious loss to the Society were your name to be removed from its list, and I been asked to express that hope that although you may be unable from the pressure of other engagements to share in the work of the Society, you may yet be willing to reconsider your decision and to allow your name to remain among those of our fellows.' |
