Thank you for your letter of yesterday. I have not said anything to the Society of Chemical Industry about Mr Tyrer's eligibility for re-election because I did not feel justified in doing so in an official capacity without an expression of the Council's opinion, but you might perhaps inform them that Mr Tyrer's present term have been a short one, to fill an accidental vacancy. If then they express their wish that he should be reappointed it would rest with the Council here to accept the nomination.' |
