TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to the Surveyor of Taxes

DescriptionIn filling up the schedule of salaries and pensions, income tax on which is paid by the Royal Society, Rix entered Mr Walter White's pension at £350, and assuming that his private income raised the total to £400, Rix did not claim abatement on White's behalf. White has since informed Rix that his total income is less than £400 and that he is entitled to abatement. Rix asks the Surveyor what action he should take and encloses the demand note for £8-15-0 for guidance.
