Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society |
Date | 22 July 1890 |
Description | By this post Rix is sending the final proof of Messrs Beevor and Horsely's paper. The plates are being printed off and he therefore begs Foster to return it with the least possible delay. Rix has been thinking about the cataloguing work and once Miss Chambers is settled Rix thinks they should have a woman under Miss Chambers to work exclusively on the supplementary volume. Rix will talk this over with the Treasurer, John Evans, and is leaving with him names recommended for copyists. Rix leaves London 1 August and returns 15 September and it would probably be best not to engage anyone until he returns. There is an enormous amount to work to be overtaken before copyists can be usefully employed. |
