Description'Dear Sir,
Adverting to your letter of April 17th to Professor Larmor in which you express your wish to withdraw your paper on 'The direction, relative to the line of approach, in which electrons are liberated from a neutral atom in collision with a positive ion', I am returning your manuscript to you by registered post. I shall be much obliged if, in acknowledging its safe receipt, you will give me a written assurance, required by the Standing Orders of the Society, that the paper is to be regarded as not having been communicated to the Society at all.'
