Soiree.
Referring to your letter of May 31st., the Soiree Committee have decided not to have lantern demonstrations on the occasion of the Ladies' Soiree, in view of an extended invitation list caused by the inclusion of the foreign visitors who will participate in the Darwin celebrations at Cambridge. In these circumstances it will not be possible to receive your lantern slides for exhibition. I am sorry, but the occasion is exceptional.' |
