With reference to Prof Osborne's paper on "The elasticity of rubber balloons and hollow viscera" communicated by you, the Secretaries are prepared to recommend the paper for publication in the "Proceedings" [of the Royal Society] but are of opinion that no advantages would arise from publishing the tables since they are completely represented by the curves, up to all practical accuracy. It is proposed therefore to proceed with the publication of the paper subject to this modification.
As Prof Osborne appears to be resident in Melbourne and communication with him would involve a delay of many weeks, I should be glad if either you or Dr Mathison is prepared to act on his behalf and would agree to the modification suggested.' |
