The President, Sir Archibald Geikie, has left England for Italy, but before going he asked me to reply to your letter of the 23rd ult[imo] relating to the Society's Conversaziones.
I am to remind you that the number of invitations which can be issued to these receptions is necessarily limited, but I have the President's authority for saying that if you will send me the list of suitable members of your Union, we will do what we can in the matter of invitations.'
