In accordance with a request received from the President of the R Accademia dei Lincei, I am sending you a cheque for £50 being an instalment of the Joule Studentship awarded to Professor Amerio.
In view of the fact that a year has already elapsed since the award of the Studentship, we are sending one half of the total value of the Studentship, namely, £50, and will deal with the balance of £50 in such way as Professor Amerio may find most convenient, with the proviso that we prefer not to make a small payment than £25 at one time.
I shall be obliged by your signing the enclosed receipt and retuning it to me.' |
